ABOUT BADFISH: HANDMADE SUSTAINABLE JEWELRY

Badfish Jewelry was founded by Kasey Hughes, whose journey into jewelry design began in San Diego, California. At just 20 years old, she discovered wax casting and quickly fell in love with the craft. More than a creative outlet, jewelry became a passport and a way to explore new places, cultures, and traditions through design.

That summer, Kasey returned to her hometown in New Jersey and poured her full energy into building Badfish. What started as a small passion project would soon grow into a life-changing adventure.

At 21, driven by a desire to pursue her dreams beyond the classroom, Kasey made the bold decision to move to Bali, Indonesia on her own. While some thought it was a crazy leap, it became the beginning of Badfish’s global story. In Bali, she found not only world-class waves to surf but also a community of artisans who would help shape her vision. Working alongside her local friends, Kutut, Agus, and Abi, she continues to learn, grow, and handcraft each piece with care.

Today, Badfish stands for more than just jewelry. It’s about creating meaningful pieces from ethically sourced materials, championing craftsmanship over mass production, and celebrating the beauty of global connection. Each design carries the spirit of adventure, sustainability, and individuality—values at the core of both Kasey’s journey and the Badfish brand.

At Badfish, we believe jewelry should tell a story: the story of where it came from, who made it, and the dream that inspired it.
