Kasey’s initiative to create environmentally-friendly jewelry from surfboard shaping resin is a great example of combining art, sustainability, and craftsmanship. By upcycling resin waste into unique stones, she is not only reducing waste but also celebrating the surf culture and local craftsmanship. The choice of 925 sterling silver as a base material adds to the quality and attractiveness of her pieces. Her oval-shaped stone option offers a smooth, organic aesthetic. This approach promotes awareness about waste reduction in the surf industry.
Each piece is completely unique from the next. We created this design to help recycle the mass amounts of garbage made through the surfboard making process. When a surfboard is made, glassing with resin is a large part of this process. Resin is an extremely hard material to break down. We've recycled 100 pounds of resin scraps so far, not only helping our planet, but also creating beautiful designs.
